Biography

Aaron Kyle Tveit was born on the 21st of October, 1983.  Aaron grew up in New York City, living with his parents and younger brother, and this is where Aaron attended Middletown High School. He was a great student, getting good and solid grades, and attending a lot of school activities. Sports took his interests, football, golf and basketball, but Aaron also involved himself into the school’s theatrical productions. Sports got his preference back then though, but luckily Aaron was able to combine the two different types of activities. Aaron graduated in 2001.

A scholarship at Cornell University was offered to Aaron to study applied economics. Aaron still wasn’t sure what he wanted to study but he soon found himself missing the theatre and acting. He switched to Ithaca College where he started a major in music. When he went to Ithaca College Aaron still wasn’t sure what he actually wanted to do. Switching from music to drama now appears to be a very good decision he made back then.

After two years Aaron left Ithaca College because he was casted for the part of Steve in the musical production of Rent. After this national tour things went well for Aaron and he got the part of Link Larkin in the musical Hairspray. This was the part that would eventually get him on his way to Broadway. Right after the tour ended, in July 2006, Aaron played this part again but now on Broadway. This production of Hairspray at the Neil Simon Theatre was his Broadway debut. 75 of his friends and family members travelled to Manhattan to see this show, and this made it an unforgettable first Broadway experience for Aaron.

Because of his success on Broadway and in the other theatre productions, college was set aside. After Hairspray on Broadway, Aaron starred in smaller, off Broadway productions. He had a part in Calvin Berger, a musical based on Rostand’s Cyrano de Bergerac, in 2007. He also starred as D’Artagnan in The Three Musketeers. These small productions eventually led him to the role that would help shape his career.

Aaron’s career really started with his part in Next To Normal at the Second Stage Theater in 2008. Aaron played Gabriel ‘Gabe’ Goodman in this and the role actually got him a Lucille Lortel Award nomination for Oustanding Featured Actor.

Once again Aaron returned to the Broadway Stage as Link Larkin for a month. This led to his part in Saved, based on the film version of this comedy. He actually played the leading part in this, the part of Dean. After Saved Aaron got the part of Fiyero in Wicked, another Great White Way appearance for Aaron Tveit. When he was in the middle of this amazing theatre production, Aaron jumped back to Next To Normal for its reopening in Washington D.C. For this one Aaron won a Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Supporting Perfomer in a Non-Resident Production.

Again Aaron played the part of Fiyero in Wicked, January 2009. This was cut short because of Next To Normal, once again. Next To Normal now opened on Broadway in March 2009. For this performance he won a Clarence Derwent Award. The show itself won numerous awards as well and got several Tony nominations.

Then Aaron got the role of Frank Abagnale Junior in the theatre production of Catch Me If You Can in Seattle, with Norbert Leo Butz. Variety called Aaron's performance in this play ''charismatic, poised, confident and keen.'' They also stated that he ''sings and dances as easily as most of us kick off our shoes.''

As Catch Me If You Can prepared itself for a Broadway premier, Aaron once again started playing Gabe Goodman in Next To Normal. At the same time he took the role of Tripp Vanderbilt in the TV series Gossip Girl. He returned to the series for a small part in later seasons. After this television debut Aaron got small parts in series as Ugly Betty and Law And Order: Special Victims Unit. The year after he got a second part in a movie, this time in Howl, representing Allen Ginsberg's poem with the same title.

Neil Patrick Harris directed the musical RENT and casted Aaron for the part of Roger after he saw him play in Next To Normal and became a fan of his work. Aaron only had a week to rehearse but because he was already familiar with this play, Aaron didn't mind. Another one of his projects was Girl Walks Into A Bar, a 'film' shot in eleven days with a canon 7D. It was released on Youtube in 2011 as part of a distribution experiment.

When Girl Walks Into A Bar was released, Aaron started previews on Catch Me If You Can at the Neil Simon Theatre. People loved his part in this once again and were stunned by the way he played Frank. When this show ended in 2011, Aaron Tveit got some other parts in series. He returned to Gossip Girl and The Good Wife. He also played another character in Law And Order: SVU. The episode he shot for Body Of Proof a year earlier was also released at this time.

In December 2012 Aaron was cast for the role of Enjolras in the film version of Les Misérables. Loads of well known actors and actresses played alongside him and it was a great success.

In 2013 Aaron performed 6 sold out cabaret performances at 54 Below. This performance was recorded and made into a CD which is available on Amazon and iTunes. In the same year Aaron got the leading role in the tv series Graceland on USA Network where he plays FBI rookie Mike Warren. Season 1 of the series was released in the same year and season 2 is coming out this summer.
